But we have no way of knowing how it was shipped, how long it sat in a warehouse, or whether it’s even the right size and venting type for a Sunnyvale or DFW home. Gas tankless units in particular need venting matched to the model. We’ve run into units that arrived without the right venting kit or with a gas connection sized for a different climate zone. When that happens on a customer-supplied unit, the fix and the delay land on you. Not on a manufacturer warranty we can activate.

• Outside our 60 mile radius: Look for a licensed plumber based closer to your home. A tankless unit needs a follow-up visit now and then for flushing and warranty questions. A contractor who can’t get back to you easily can’t back up the install the way it deserves.
• Want to skip a permit or inspection: Contact your local building department instead. Gas tankless units involve venting and combustion air requirements that inspectors check for a reason. • Bought a tankless unit somewhere else and just need it hung on the wall: Search for a plumber who advertises labor-only installs. That’s a different service model than ours. It usually comes with a different warranty structure since the installer isn’t the one who sourced the equipment.
