Situations Where We’re Not the Right Call for HVAC System Repair
Our service area covers Sunnyvale and the greater Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. This includes Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano, Frisco, Allen, Irving, and Carrollton. If your address falls outside that 60-mile radius, we’ll tell you. We won’t book a call we can’t follow through on. A repair is only as good as the follow-up. We don’t want to leave you without that.
We also aren’t the right call if the goal is skipping a permit or working around a code requirement. Every job we do gets done to code by licensed technicians. Permits and inspections are pulled when required. If a job needs a permit and you ask to avoid one, we’ll pass. That’s not us being difficult. It’s just not work we’ll put our name on.
One more case worth naming: labor-only installs of a system you sourced yourself. Our workmanship guarantee only applies to equipment we can select, verify, and stand behind. So if you’ve already bought a unit elsewhere and just need someone to hang it, we generally won’t take that job. It’s not that the equipment is a problem. It’s that a warranty on labor doesn’t mean much if we didn’t have a hand in what’s being installed.
None of this is about the size of the job or your budget. Plenty of HVAC system repair calls are small and quick, and we take those the same way we take a bigger one. The line we draw is about whether we can back the work afterward. If you’re past that radius, we’ll tell you before we schedule anything. It’s not that the drive is too far for one visit. It’s that a workmanship warranty means something only if we can get back to your property. If a repair needs a follow-up check, or a part comes in and needs installing, we want to be able to show up without asking you to wait half a day for a truck coming from Sunnyvale.

Installing or Repairing Equipment Bought Somewhere Else
If you’ve already bought a furnace, condenser, or air handler somewhere else and just need a crew to put it in, we’re usually not the right call. We generally don’t take on labor-only installs of equipment we didn’t source ourselves.
It comes down to what our workmanship warranty covers. Every job we install carries a workmanship warranty on our labor and the manufacturer’s warranty on the parts. Both of those depend on us knowing exactly what’s going into your home. We need to know where it came from and whether it matches your system’s specs. Equipment bought outside our supply chain is harder for us to verify. If it wasn’t stored, shipped, or rated correctly, that’s a problem we didn’t create but would be asked to stand behind.
We’re not saying the equipment is bad. Plenty of it is fine. We’re saying we can’t guarantee our labor on a part we can’t verify. A warranty with holes in it isn’t worth much to either of us.

If you’re set on equipment from another source, the more reliable path is asking that seller for install and warranty support. Or, work with a contractor willing to write labor coverage against parts they didn’t verify. We’d rather tell you that up front than take the job and hand you a warranty that doesn’t really back you up later.
What We’d Tell You to Do Instead

- Outside our 60-mile radius: Look for a licensed HVAC contractor based closer to your home. A tech who’s 15 minutes away can get back out for a warranty check faster than one who’s an hour and a half out.
- Need unpermitted or off-the-books work: Call your city’s building or permit office first and ask what the job requires. Skipping a permit on a repair can create problems later if you ever sell the home.
- Bought your own equipment and just need it installed: Ask the seller if install is part of the deal, or price out the same equipment through a contractor who can source it, verify it, and back the install with a workmanship guarantee.
Whoever you choose, you can check their license status through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation before you let them touch your system. It only takes a minute, and it tells you who you’re really dealing with.
